* Sometimes with an odd number of teams, one team will have to play 4 games.

Tournament Highlights:

  • Hockey Eastern Ontario Minor (formerly Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association aka ODMHA) sanctioned tournaments.  For the 2017-2018 season:  Approval #HEO-18-040.

  • No body contact.

  • Goalie shutout awards.

  • MVP award at every tournament game.

  • 50/50 draw at most levels and other goodies at younger levels.

  • The village of Richmond is within the City of Ottawa but visitors can experience a small-town feel.

  • Richmond has a long history of hosting Ottawa hockey tournaments and hosted some of the first games for the International Silver Stick Hockey tournament in the 1950s. Click here for the story.

  • All tournaments are for house league teams only.  Please do not attempt to register if you are a rep, select or competitive team.

  • Note for IP:  At this level, the event is a fun day and not a tournament.  It usually runs with no refs, half ice, and a small gift for all participents rather than individual awards.

  • Note for Novice:  There is a max of 5 games for this large tournament, but for all other tournaments, there is usual 3-game maximum as these tournaments are generally one-day events.

  • The arena is approximatly 18 minutes south of the Canadian Tire Centre home of the NHL's Ottawa Senators. Please click here for the Sens' schedule.

Comments From Particpants:

  • "Just a quick note of thanks for the tournament on the Monday. Despite our disappointing loss in the final, the kids had a great day and the tournament was very well run with your helpful and friendly volunteers. It was much appreciated."

  • "I would just like to thank you again for hosting us this past weekend. We have been to three tournaments this year, and this was easily the best run and most enjoyable tournament we have attended."

  • "Just wanted to say thanks for a great tournament. Kids had a great time, and were thrilled with the MVP awards and medals."

  • "I just wanted to let you know we enjoyed the tournament even though we didn't fair out well lol. Hopefully we can return next year with a full team. Our coach coaches Novice as well and said they would like to return. All our parents said the kids played clean, refs were fair and it was overall enjoyable!!!"

Other Information:

  • If the tournament you are interested in is currently sold out, you may still email and request to be notified if there are openings.  Sometimes there are spots that open up unexpectedly by a team withdrawing or the tournament expanding.

Helping Make Tournaments a Success

Each RMMHA tournament is run by an RRMHA host team but we often need extra volunteers to be arena hosts and helpers, scorekeepers, timekeepers, etc. High school students are welcome to volunteer to receive volunteer credit hours. If you would like to assist with tournament marketing, tournament logistics or provide suggestions to improve tournaments, please contact tournaments.rmmha@gmail.com.
