Opportunity for U18 RMMHA Hockey Players

2021-08-26

Dear RMMHA Community,

Hockey Canada is instituting a new program for U9 (Novice Pathways) and U11 (Atom Pathways) for the upcoming season.  These programs are designed to ensure equitable ice times, throughout the season, for all players at these levels.

As mandated by these programs, no earlier than September 7th, we are to offer four one-hour pre-season conditioning sessions for the players.  The actual sort-outs will take place over three one-hour ice times.

We are happy to announce that experienced educator and coach Ruggles Pritchard has agreed to help us run these programs.  We are also very excited about the opportunity this will bring for our U18 players.  The RMMHA is looking for U18 players to help Coach Pritchard throughout this process.  We are planning to have U18 players work on the ice during the conditioning and sort-out sessions, as well as learn how to properly evaluate players to help during the sort-out session.

All U18 players involved in the program will be eligible to earn coaching certification through Hockey Canada, in addition earn volunteer hours for high school.  Our younger athletes look up to our older players as mentors and role models.  This will be a great way to foster a relationship between these age groups.

All U18 players interested in participating in this program, or would like more information, please email me at abovetherimottawa@gmail.com by August 30th.

Thanks,
Craig Dunn
RMMHA President
