This is a friendly reminder about the correspondence which went out on August 1st regarding the required Pre-Season Chat for the  Gender Identity and Expression settlement.  Teams are required to have a pre-season chat and cover the topics on the checklist. (attached)  This can be built into parent meetings that take place at the start of the season.  Please share the policies, glossary of terms and checklists with all of your teams and ensure that they know what is required to be discussed during a pre-season meeting.

As part of the settlement with Ontario Human Rights, we are required to audit 26 MHA's by November 10th to ensure your teams are in compliance with the settlement and that they covered the items on the checklist and glossary of terms. We (HEO) must achieve 80% success rate of the audits during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 season.  If 80% success is not achieved the audit process will continue.  In the next few days we will also be sending out a power point presentation which can be used as a tool in order to assist your teams in making sure they comply.
