RMMHA Updates: Fees, Online Registration, Competitive Tryouts, Board Positions

As the 2016-2017 season winds down, the RMMHA Executive is pleased to share three announcements with our members and to put a call out for volunteers to join the Board of Directors. 

New Fee Structure

We are implementing a new fee structure that reflects two changes. Firstly, the mandatory $50 family fundraising fee for raffle tickets has been removed to make way for other fundraising opportunities. Secondly, parents are no longer required to volunteer in the canteen or pay the canteen buy out. As an example of the new fees, rather than paying a registration fee (i.e. $600 last season for Atom), and a $50 fundraising fee, and a $125 canteen fee - for a total of $775 last year - an Atom player next season will only pay $675 all in before August 15, 2017. The new fees have been adjusted to better reflect the true operating costs for each registered player including ice rental costs, equipment costs, insurance, and officiating fees. Although some families appreciated being able to work in the canteen to reduce their overall hockey costs, too many issues with parent volunteers (i.e. complaints about available shift times, unpaid canteen fees, and parent no-shows for shifts) have led to the decision to staff the canteen with student volunteers and paid student staff next season so that canteen operations are manageable and consistent. 

Online Registration

At the 2016 AGM, the membership requested online registration loud and clear, and we are happy to have met this mandate: online registration is now available for the 2017-2018 season! Please visit the RMMHA website http://rmmha.goalline.ca/ under the Registration tab at the top for instructions and to access the registration link under Online Registration.

Please note that there are several payment options: 
1) a one-time credit card payment; 
2) a $200 initial credit card payment (per player) and monthly installments (up to August 15, 2017; the earlier you register, the more installments are available); 
3) money order (payable to the RMMHA; must be received prior to August 15, 2017) 
4) certified cheque (payable to the RMMHA; must be received prior to August 15, 2017)

Competitive Tryouts
As in past years, players who want to try out for competitive teams MUST register with their home association (RMMHA) prior to try outs. Please check competitive team websites for tryout dates. 

Executive Positions
If you have some ideas, time, and energy to share, we would love to welcome new members to the Board of Directors. The RMMHA Executive are still seeking nominations for vacant positions. If you have questions about these positions, please contact Will Mayda at mayda1@rogers.com.
